DNS records are essential for directing internet traffic to your domain. Here’s a guide to the most common types of DNS records you may need to manage.

1. A Record (Address Record) Points your domain to an IP address. For example, an A record can point www.yourdomain.com to 192.168.1.1.

2. CNAME Record (Canonical Name Record) Aliases one domain name to another. For example, you can have blog.yourdomain.com point to www.yourdomain.com.

3. MX Record (Mail Exchange Record) Directs email to servers for your domain. For example, an MX record can point mail.yourdomain.com to your email provider's server.

4. TXT Record (Text Record) Used to store text information. Often used for verification purposes or to include SPF (Sender Policy Framework) records to improve email security.

5. SRV Record (Service Record) Specifies information about a service available on your domain. For example, SRV records are used for services like VoIP or instant messaging.

6. AAAA Record Similar to an A record but points to an IPv6 address instead of an IPv4 address.
